This winter started off with some strong winds, which kept us off the water and on good days we we able to get out to the reef. But the winds have calmed down and left us with blue skies and temperatures in the low 70’s. Some people would call that “perfect fishing weather”, so book your Key Largo Fishing Charter today!
Our charter fishing guests have been enjoying the best of both worlds with lots of great action both offshore fishing and reef fishing along the waters off Key Largo.
Captain Danny and the crew of the Fin Razer have been slow trolling live baits and flying kites with goggle eyes just off the edge of the reef in 120’ to 180’ of water. It’s amazing to see the change in color from the turquoise blue waters of the reef to the deep blue waters offshore. More amazing are the majestic giants that our Key Largo fishing charter guests have been landing like sailfish, wahoo and kingfish (or king mackerel). We are regularly catching and releasing large sailfish up to 80 lbs that make for some great pictures. This is also the best time of the year for wahoo fishing and the bite is strong. Our charter guests are landing nice sized wahoos with some weighing in over 60 lbs.
The Key Largo reef fishing is always strong with big fat mangrove snappers and tasty hogfish everywhere. The crew has been mixing chum and oats to create a heavy chum line, then free-lining silver sides and shrimp. That combination has been delivering great table fare including the delicious yellowtail snapper. Take your pick of reef fishing or offshore fishing and rest assured that our Captains and crew will work hard to find the fish for you.
