The Fall season is here and with the change in season comes some good changes to the fishing around the waters of the Upper Keys. The action that our fishing charter guests have been experiencing the last couple of weeks has been exceptional. Both offshore charters and reef charters have been coming back with coolers full of tasty fish. Along with some exciting stories and you know there is nothing better than a good fishing story.
While offshore fishing in Key Largo, our fleet has been trolling and live baiting for some of those monsters of the deep. The dolphin (mahi-mahi) bite continues to be strong. We are landing some nice sized bulls in the 15 – 20 pound range. During the month of November the fishing transitions a bit and we start to see more sailfish, wahoo and tuna. This past week we also caught a few nice sized cobia, which are always a fun fight.
The reef fishing this time of year gets pretty yummy, I mean good. Just a few short weeks ago there was a closure of the commercial and recreational yellowtail snapper fishing in our local waters. The closure does not affect charter fishing boats. So, we are one of the few lucky folks that have a chance to catch this delicious snapper. The black grouper season is open until December 31st. These two months (November and December) are the best for black grouper fishing. Recently, our charter fishing guests aboard The Soz came back after a 4 hours trip with a rack full of a variety of delicious snappers.
Did you know? That when you come fishing with Key Largo Fishing Adventures, our crew will clean and filet all of your catch. This is part of our service to all guests to ensure you go home with plenty of fish ready for the frying pan or the freezer. A special treat is being able to eat the freshest sashimi. Our crew will serve up the tuna you just caught a few minutes ago along with soy sauce and wasabi dockside. These are some of the special things we do to ensure every charter fishing guest has the experience of a lifetime.
The holidays are almost here, which means that our fishing fleet will be busy, busy, busy. Please make sure to book your trip early, so you don’t miss out on the fun.
